******SHHS LATE START 1/31/25******
Just a reminder that on 1/31/25 SHHS will be on the Late Start Schedule. The doors will still be opened at 7:30 am. Students arriving early will need to report to the gym.

Knights fans! We look forward to tonight's basketball game against Beloit! Spiritmania will be during halftime of the boys game. Please take advantage of the SMGS parking lot once the SH lot fills up. We know it will be a packed house!
Reminder: Parents, please monitor your children during the game. Children should be in the stands and are not allowed to be outside of the gym unattended. The gym floor/baseline is for the athletes, officials, and coaching staff and we want to provide them the full court!
We can't wait to see you tonight! Go Knights!

Dear Catholic School Families,
Catholic Schools Week is upon us, and what a beautiful time it is to celebrate the vibrant mission of our Catholic schools. Each day, in classrooms and hallways across the Diocese of Salina, we are forming students to be disciples of Jesus on Mission. This mission is at the heart of everything we do, and it is a privilege to partner with you in this sacred work.
This week also coincides with National School Choice Week, a time to recognize the importance of educational freedom for families. Here in Kansas, we have reason to be hopeful about the future of school choice, with legislators soon discussing initiatives that could have a profound impact on Catholic schools and the families we serve.
One key opportunity already in place is the Kansas Tax Credit for Low-Income Students Scholarship Program, administered locally by the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) for the Catholic Diocese of Salina. This program provides vital financial assistance to income-qualifying families seeking a Catholic education for their children. In 2024, $8.2 million of the $10 million allocated by the state for this program was utilized, underscoring its growing importance. By participating in this program, benefactors receive a 75% Kansas state income tax credit, making it a win-win for families and donors alike.
This scholarship program has made a tangible difference in the lives of our students and their families, enabling more children to experience the transformative gift of Catholic education. It’s crucial that we continue to take full advantage of this opportunity and encourage others to do the same.
Looking ahead, there is an opportunity to support expanded school choice initiatives at the state level. On Tuesday, January 28, Kansas legislators will host a rally and hearing to discuss proposed legislation (such as Senate Bill 509) related to educational freedom. These measures could bring about significant positive changes for Catholic schools and other private institutions across the state, especially in rural areas where access to private schools is limited.
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to raise our voices for what is good, true, and just. I encourage you to contact your local state representatives and senators to express your support for these school choice initiatives. Let them know how important Catholic education is to your family and your community. With nearly 45,000 students attending private schools in Kansas, our collective voice can make a powerful impact.
Together, let us continue to be disciples of Jesus on Mission—forming the hearts and minds of the next generation while working to ensure that Catholic education remains accessible to all who seek it.
Thank you for your unwavering support and prayers. May God bless you and your family as we strive to live out our shared mission.
In Christ,
Geoff Andrews
Superintendent of Schools
Catholic Diocese of Salina
