Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

⭐️ Catechesis of the Good Shepherd ⭐️

Whenever we change liturgical seasons, we begin in the atrium with an enthronement of the Bible. This month, we encourage families to take a moment to consider our blessings and thank God!

✨ What are the blessings of my day or week? Am I grateful to God for the ways I have encountered His presence today? When the tasks of the day are not easy, do I still praise and thank God?

During advent, our lessons focus on:

- The Annunciation

- The Visitation

- The Birth of Jesus and Adoration of the Shepherds

✨ How can we help our children praise God? As a family, create a peaceful environment for prayer:
- Turn off all devices (TV, computer, iPad, phones, etc.)
- Find a quiet place to sit together
- Lower the lights, light a candle on your Advent wreath, and read from the Holy Bible (Luke 1:46-49 or a Psalm of praise and Thanksgiving, Psalm 100, Psalm 16:11, Psalm 23:1-4, Psalm 19:1)
- Allow time for holy silence. Ask your children how they can respond to the words from the Bible and let them share their thoughts. Remember, these moments of silence our prayer for children.
- Sing a song of praise and Thanksgiving to God. Younger children may want to draw what they are thankful for, while older children might write their own prayer of praise or a letter to God.
